Hush

Mike Flanagan goes non supernatural home invasion.

I’m not saying that it is a bad film, but there does seem to be a bit of a pattern with Mike Flannigan here, Rob Reiner (possibly) and Frank Darabont.
The all have done inspired adaptations of Stephen King stories, and when they are good, they are very good, and when then are phoning it in, then it is usually still watchable, but noticeably lower quality.

In this instance, it feels like Mike Flannigans audition tape for Gerald’s Game.

One thing of interest, this film hits a lot of the same beats as Psycho.
The unexpected death in the shower scene early on, the possible arrival of hope, in the form of Arbogast, only to have the hope dashed (not at the bottom of the stairs, but close enough).
